The proposal is based on what already exists and is developed from a detailed analysis of the site, exploring and assessing the potential of its inherent qualities. Generous spaces. Corridors that function as rooms. Courtyards with different characters. Subtle differences in level that turn the interior into a natural landscape. The proposal is based on these qualities as tools for action. The design is conceived as an open landscape of galleries, outdoor spaces, administration areas and steps/stairs that connect levels and serve as resting points. The original wall coverings are preserved, cleaned up and treated with a colourless coating. Everything is maintained and refined under this principle. Only where strictly necessary are new elements added in a solid and coherent manner. A building designed to last, to be used and to improve over time. A sustainable approach. This process seeks not only to preserve what already exists, but also to integrate it harmoniously with contemporary needs.
The intervention is carried out with the intention of ensuring that the building can adapt to new uses and generations without losing its historical identity. Every detail is taken care of to maintain a balance between tradition and innovation, respecting the traces of the past through a contemporary language.
